Having been to Talkeetna, Alaska, Leonard will appreciate this link. ktna.org/category/nuggets-talkeetna-alaska/This is Talkeetna's local public radio. If you scroll down to "The Roadhouse" you can hear about the famous old boarding house/restaurant/saloon that inspired the creators to come up with the TV show, Northern Exposure, or so legend has it. The old owners sure seemed spunky, kind of reminding me of Walt and Ruth Anne. Having been to The Brick in Rosyln, Washington, I think the Roadhouse seems like a pretty cool place. Plus, it's just neat to listen to these stories of local residents there. Kind of gets you into the Northern Exposure frame of mind. Enjoy.

Another interesting place to visit online, is Talkeetna's old Fairview Inn. I'm suspecting that it might have also been the inspiration behind northern exposure's creators. It's a mainstay of Talkeetna.

In fact, having read an hysterical Yelp review of the old Fairview Inn, I'm 100% convinced it was the inspiration for "The Brick" from Cicely. Even though there really is a Brick Saloon in Roslyn, I think the Fairview Inn was the inspiration for the fictitious Brick of Cicely. Check it out. www.yelp.com/biz/fairview-inn-talkeetnaFor more interesting information, check out Talkeetna's Public Radio station under their "Nuggets" section, and they have an interesting podcast you can listen to about the Fairview Inn and its history and old timers.

The female bartender appeared to me as a lover of 70's nostalgia, complete with Farrah Fawcett feathered hairdo, dream catcher earrings and a pink thermal blouse that matched her pink jeans. Love it!

Hi Marilyn!
I KNOW. I read that and laughed. Hope everyone is doing well. The board's been quiet lately.
