As I mentioned in an earlier post regarding name dropping on the episode "Hello, I love you" and Northern Exposure in general, I mentioned the Caboose Tavern, and how I found the real place the writers mention on the show. Now, I wondered about when Walt mentioned to Ruthann, "I was hoping maybe we could wander over to the Kondike Restaurant for some good steak, maybe some wine" to Ruthann. Remember, she shuts him down because she's anorthern exposureious to keep an eye on her new oak display cases. Anyway, it seems the writers NEVER mentioned anything that was simply random or made up, be it a reference to a town, a restaurant, a mountain, a band, etc. So I looked up the Klondike Restaurant to see what restaurant the writers might have been inspired by and eluded to. I got this one: www.yelp.com/biz/klondike-rib-and-salmon-barbecue-whitehorseWhich is old and wonderful and really is located in Whitehorse, Yukon, which in real life would have been a 14 hour drive from Cantwell, Alaska where Walt and Ruthann's vehicle had stalled. Or this one in Oregon: www.yelp.com/biz/klondike-restaurant-and-bar-st-helensWhich do you think it was? Place your vote here. I vote for the one in Whitehorse. It's old and cute and the kind of place the writers would have thought cool.

"anorthernexposureious" was supposed to be "anorthern exposureious." WTH? I don't know why it did that. Sorry.

It did it again. OK, just substitute the word "uncomfortable" for that word above it keeps screwing up.

Yuppppers, Hayden. I'm with Walt. A good steak, seafood and a potato sound pretty yummy today. Happy New Year!
