Cicely and Bennie and I went to our town's version of the Thanksgiving Day of the Dead and Tomatoes parade.
We were really moved how much it reminded of us of Cicely. Only our town holds it at night and calls it the Festival of Lights, and everyone puts as many lights on their floats as they can, kind of like when Chris did his own festival of lights exhibit.
Then there were all the Lakota Native American floats, doing drum chants, people on bicycles with lights woven around their spokes. Very humbling and moving. Their interpretation of Thanksgiving is different.
It was about as Cicely like as it gets.
Tomorrow, we're all going to a Latin Choir Candlelight Mass, which should be astounding. Chris would very much appreciate this, especially since he spent time in a monastary.
Cheers.

It was wonderful.
I wish y'all could come to my party this Saturday. 7 have confirmed, 2 out of town, not sure about the rest. I'm making meatballs, cucumber canapes with salmon and cream cheese, and mini-pesto stuffed tomatoes. Yum. Last year's rumble was a hit. I hope this one will be, too.
I'll spend 2 hours in the gym on Friday and Sunday to make up for it! LOL.

“What the caterpillar calls the end of the world the master calls a butterfly.†- Richard Bach
I thought I’d take a moment to chime in on a hot topic of discussion today. The time has finally come. Mañana will be December 21, 2012. The end of the Mayan calendar. I’ve been flooded with calls this morning asking for my take on this doomsday myth. What do I think will happen tomorrow? Interesting question really. I for one, think the Mayan’s calendar has been taken way out of context and to its extreme. From my readings, their writings make no mention of the end of the world or civilization. But they do speak of a 5,125 year cycle coming to an end. Like when winter turns to spring, or a caterpillar becomes a butterfly. Does that mean an end? Not really, more like a beginning, a transition or rebirth. Spring brings forth a rejuvenation of life. So I guess what I’m trying to say is I don’t think fire and brimstone will reign from the heavens, although its not outside the realm of possibility or probability. Given the Earth is struck on a daily basis by asteroids and space debris. Every act of creation is an act of destruction, Picasso said that. But we will be entering into a new cycle. What that means tomorrow will tell. We live at a special time, we get to experience the dawn of a new cycle. Think about that. Something that happens only every 5,125 years. In all honesty, I’m excited with a energy of wonder. Like a child trying to sleep on Christmas Eve, I can’t wait. I’ll be at the Brick tonight if anyone would like to join me. Starting at 11pm all drinks will be on the house until midnight to celebrate the “end of the world.†To those of you who are feeling any uncertainty, I’ll leave you with some comforting words:
“Don’t worry about the world coming to an end today. It’s already tomorrow in Australia.†-Charles M. Schulz

Good thoughts, Chris.
I guess it's all good now. Maybe it's like an age of Aquarius thing?
Happy Holidays! I'm going to watch the northern exposure Xmas episode tonight! I hope everyone does and posts their thoughts.
