Remember the episode where Shelly gives birth to Miranda above the Brick?
I watched that one yesterday. So touching, when Maggie tells Fleishman what a good man and doctor he is. The word she used was "Safe." Lovely.
Then I love the scenes with Ruthann and Walt the most. Walt accompanies Ruthann to transport her new oak cases she bought from a friend in "Cantwell." I LOVE the blossoming relationship, the sparkiness and frankness between the two of them.
And one of the best reasons I love Northern Exposure is that you can watch the shows hundreds of times and find something new you never found before.
Like in this episode where Ruthanne and Walt are in allegedly "Cantwell" picking up the oak display cases. They're outside of a funky divey saloon, with one of those old 1960's signs out front, the kind of taverns I adore that have greasy, wonderful french fries. The sign outside where they're getting the cases loaded says, the Caboose Tavern. In this scene, since I know Rosyln fairly well after visiting there last summer, I wondered where they flimed that short scene because there wasn't any "Caboose" Tavern that I saw in Rosyln.
So I went online. And sure enough, found it. They went to Cle Elum, which is just east of Rosyln, to film that short scene.
And sure enough, I found The Caboose Tavern on Yelp. Yay! They remodled the outside and inside of the tavern since Northern Exposure filmed that scene there. But it gets good reviews. I can't wait to go there when I visit my sister next time.
How fun. I wonder what other scenes of Northern Exposure were filmed in Cle Elum or even other communities such as Teenanaway, Liberty, or Easton?
northern exposure is full of such little goodies that you can watch for a lifetime and always be uncovering new things.
